The Palliative and Community Care Center at Pasuppara, Idukki
Santhwanam Kuwait unveiled a construction endeavor in the Annual General Meeting 2023, as part of one of its distinguished projects for the year 2023. Our aim is to construct and dedicate a Palliative and Community Care Center in the remote village of Pasuppara, nestled in the serene landscapes of the Idukki District in Kerala. Santhwanam Kuwait associates with a group of socially conscious dedicated youths who have been tirelessly serving the Pasuppara region for over 25 years under the banner of the Pasuppara People’s Club & Library affectionately known as PPC. The Palliative Care and Community Center will be a joint undertaking between Santhwanam Kuwait and PPC, situated on land jointly owned by both organizations.
For the residents of the underprivileged tea plantation areas of Pasuppara, this center will serve as both a sanctuary for palliative care and a hub for communal welfare. Undoubtedly, the Palliative Care and Community Center will be offering vital support to the socially marginalized, empowering them to navigate their day-to-day challenges and address a myriad of social issues.
Our vision extends beyond Pasuppara, as we aspire to replicate this model in various locales across Kerala, collaborating with esteemed voluntary organizations deeply committed to societal welfare. With an unwavering dedication to serving the public and impoverished patients, the Palliative Care and Community Center at Pasuppara epitomizes Santhwanam Kuwait's enduring commitment to the betterment of society.

Virtual Reality Room for Specially-abled Children at CRC, Kozhikode
In collaboration with the Composite Regional Centre for Skill Development, Rehabilitation, and Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities (CRC) in Kozhikode, Kerala, Santhwanam Kuwait is proud to announce the establishment of a Virtual Reality Room. Established in February 2012 by the Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities (DEPwD), Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment, Govt. of India, CRC Kozhikode offers comprehensive diagnostic assessment, therapeutic, educational, and vocational services to individuals with all types of disabilities. With highly qualified faculties spanning various departments including Audiology, Speech & Language Pathology, Clinical Psychology, Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy, Prosthetics & Orthotics, Special Education, Vocational Rehabilitation, and more, CRC is a pillar of support for persons with disabilities and their families.
Virtual reality has emerged as a groundbreaking therapeutic intervention in occupational therapy for specially abled children. Santhwanam Kuwait is currently installing non-immersive (Desktop) systems at CRC to train these children to navigate real-life situations virtually. For example, children with autism face challenges in grasping basic traffic rules or crossing roads safely. Through virtual reality interventions, they can be trained to negotiate traffic situations safely, paving the way for independent living in real-world scenarios. This evidence-based therapeutic measure, widely utilized in developed countries, offers myriad options for enhancing daily activities and life skills. Santhwanam Kuwait has undertaken this project as part of our ongoing commitment to uplift special children to the forefront of the social arena. The procurement of the virtual reality system is complete, and installation is underway. The project is slated for completion by the end of June 2024, with public access scheduled for July 2024.

Physiotherapy Center at Karinthalam, Kasaragod
Santhwanam Kuwait commenced its mission in the year 2001, driven by the dire circumstances faced by children afflicted by endosulfan poisoning. Despite the passage of decades, their plight remains largely unchanged. Our special project for 2022 was therefore conceived with the aim of constructing a physiotherapy center in Karinthalam, Kasaragod district, Kerala, and fully equipping it to commence operations for the treatment of endosulfan relief victims. The foundation stone for this endeavor was laid in a solemn ceremony held on September 16, 2023. The physiotherapy center is a collaborative effort with the Karithalam Palliative Care Society, a charitable organization dedicated to serving the people of Kasaragod for many years. Renowned architect Mr. Sankar from the Habitat Group has overseen the design and construction.
Presently, approximately 80% of the construction has been completed. By August 2024, we anticipate the commencement of full operations following the completion of construction, procurement of physiotherapy equipment, and recruitment of staff. This milestone project holds immense significance for Santhwanam Kuwait, representing 23 years of dedicated service to society.
The Physiotherapy Center will stand tall at the Kasaragod district offering hope for the people of Kasaragod, who have long endured the hardships imposed by a lack of adequate treatment facilities. It stands as a testament to our commitment to improving the lives of those in need and will serve as a source of pride for all Santhwanam members as it extends its healing touch to the community in Karinthalam, Kasaragod.
